 Product information

Nemesia is a knowledge management consulting company that was created in 1995.

Nemesia has extensive experience in creating knowledge management technologies and processes for organisations working in safety critical environments, including both emergency services and industrial companies (chemical, pharmaceutical, heavy industry).

Though the principles stay the same, traditional KM processes and techniques require significant refinement before they can be applied to safety-critical environments. In Nemesia's work with the fire service in the UK (the RIMSAT project), we conceived a KM method and tool based on case-based reasoning (CBR) and model-based reasoning (MBR) for helping Incident Commanders better analyse critical incidents, learn from their experiences, and share the lessons learned. Furthermore, the RIMSAT system allows Incident Commanders to rapidly retrieve relevant lessons during the critical incident, as the CBR search is based on a highly detailed domain model and optimised by MBR. In order to build RIMSAT in a way which would easily integrate with current practice and the special constraints and requirements of fire fighting, we performed extensive focus groups and ran a lengthy analysis of the fire service. We also constructed a domain model from scratch based on the language of the fire service.

It is our hope to use some of the knowledge acquired in these other domains to create sound and safe KM methods and tools for the health care industry.
